Minisforum has launched the NAB3R, a compact desktop computer powered by the Intel Core i3-1220P processor, featuring 10 cores and a turbo frequency up to 4.4 GHz. Although it’s a solid choice for mainstream tasks, newer successors such as the Intel Core i5-13500P have emerged, offering enhanced performance with improved efficiency, making them suitable options for users seeking more power.
The base configuration of the NAB3R includes 16 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and a 512 GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. Notably, both modules can be easily replaced without tools, and the RAM is expandable up to 64 GB. The SSD slot supports high-speed PCIe 4.0 drives.
A standout feature of the NAB3R is its support for four 4K monitors via two HDMI and two USB-C ports. While this capability is becoming more common among compact desktops, it’s still a noteworthy inclusion, especially with one USB-C solely dedicated to video output and the other for power.
The mini-PC provides two 2.5G Ethernet ports, four USB 3.2 Type-A ports, one USB-C Gen1, and an audio jack, accompanied by Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. However, competitors are starting to incorporate newer standards like USB4 and Wi-Fi 7, which offer even faster data transfer and more reliable wireless connections, posing a challenge to the NAB3R’s market position.
The cooling system features two heat pipes and additional ventilated channels, including an active heat sink for the SSD. The NAB3R comes pre-installed with Windows 11.
Early adopters and tech enthusiasts have praised the NAB3R for its balance between performance and size, though some suggest that customers focused on future-proofing might consider newer alternatives due to advancing technology trends.
