Midea Partners with Huawei to Cool Homes with AI Precision

Company Midea is launching sales of the Air Horizon M5 air conditioner, the result of deep integration with Huawei technologies. The device operates on the OpenHarmony 5.0.3 operating system. Image: Midea Inside, the HiSilicon chip is installed, which provides a computational power increase of 700% and response to commands in 3 milliseconds. With support for the HarmonyOS ecosystem, the air conditioner becomes part of the “man-car-home” concept: for example, it can be controlled by voice directly from the car.

The Midea Air Horizon M5 creates a flow of up to 9 meters (30 feet), and the system wisely distributes it: cold flow is directed along the ceiling to avoid blowing on people, while warm air moves downward to the floor (“carpet” effect). Ten shell-shaped louvers disperse the air at a 150-degree angle, mimicking a soft natural breeze. Engineers have seriously upgraded the hardware: increased the length of the evaporator, copper tubes, and fan diameter, allowing it to achieve the first-class energy efficiency. A special “ECO” button activates a mode reducing electricity consumption by 25%. With pre-order subsidies, the cost of the product in China is 2500 yuan ($360). Official sales start on January 20.
