Micro Center’s Bold Move Amidst Soaring DDR5 Prices

Against the backdrop of abnormally high prices for DDR5 RAM, the American retailer Micro Center has unveiled a series of advantageous kits for assembling gaming PCs. These kits include a CPU, motherboard, and RAM. Arguably, the most interesting offer is the kit based on the new Ryzen 7 9850X3D.

Micro Center’s Featured Assemble Kit with Ryzen 7 9850X3D, ASUS X870-P Prime WiFi and 32GB of Crucial Pro DDR5-6000.

In the current market conditions, purchasing a processor and 32 GB memory kit separately costs almost $900 without the motherboard. Micro Center offers a set including Ryzen 7 9850X3D, ASUS X870-P Prime WiFi motherboard, and 32 GB of Crucial Pro DDR5-6000 for just $700. This means a significant saving of $400, which could be spent, for example, on an SSD, case, or power supply.

Micro Center also has other offers:

  • $350: Ryzen 5 7600X with an ASUS B650E board and 16 GB G.Skill DDR5-6000;
  • $430: Ryzen 5 7600X3D with an MSI B850 board and 16 GB G.Skill DDR5-6000;
  • From $1,050 to $1,200: Ryzen 9 9950X3D with top-tier X870E chipset boards.

This initiative by Micro Center is set against the backdrop of widespread industry predictions for DDR5 prices to remain inflated until later in the year, due to ongoing supply chain constraints and high demand for next-generation gaming technologies. Analysts suggest that these strategic price cuts can stimulate sales in a sluggish market, allowing consumers to gain access to premium components without excessive cost burden. Gamers in particular may appreciate these bundles as they provide high performance without the associated high price tag.
