Fresh images of the road tests for the upcoming Mercedes-Benz S-Class have surfaced online, shared by CarBuzz. This fiery gold camouflaged variant was crafted to celebrate the 140th anniversary of Carl Benz filing the patent for the Patent Motorwagen. The model is scheduled for debut in 2026, and it promises to be both an update to the flagship sedan and a commemorative vehicle for the brand.
The most significant external changes concern the lighting: the sedan will feature headlights and taillights in the “star light” style-first showcased on the CLA concept and now gradually becoming Mercedes-Benz’s new signature style. Other updates include a redesigned grille, revamped air intakes, and front bumper, with side skirt lines and a rear bumper optimized for improved aerodynamics. New camera mounts on the front wings will offer wider viewing angles and enhance the accuracy of assistive systems.
The sedan will be equipped with Nvidia’s high-performance platform, elevating its driver assistance systems to L2+ or even L2++ levels. Inside, a transition is expected to a widescreen configuration in the style of the MBUX hyperscreen, familiar from the EQS: several displays are combined into one panel, with the engine start button integrated directly into the screen module. Alongside this, Mercedes will heed owner feedback by abandoning touch-sensitive buttons on the steering wheel, returning classic physical control elements.
