Details continue to emerge about the 2027 model year Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which has reached the final stage of road testing. The upcoming facelift will delve much deeper than the usual “cosmetic” changes. A prototype with an anniversary design in honor of the 140th anniversary of the Benz Patent-Motorwagen revealed fresh designs front and back, along with new headlights featuring “star” motifs. From the side, the sedan has changed little, but the rear features lights with new graphics.

The main attraction, however, is hidden inside: replacing the traditional screen combination is a gigantic Hyperscreen, familiar from the EQS. Despite the camouflage, a new steering wheel and physical buttons can be seen. The model is expected to retain its current lineup in terms of technology, including a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine generating 442 hp, as well as a plug-in hybrid with the same engine and a 28.6 kWh battery, providing a total of 503 hp.

Also likely to return is the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 496 hp, along with the top model S 63 E Performance, which delivers 791 hp from its V8 hybrid setup.
