MediaTek has announced a collaboration with Denso, a leading global supplier of automotive technologies. Together, they will develop an automotive System-on-Chip (SoC) aimed at future Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) and vehicle control systems. MediaTek is responsible for the development of the core components of the SoC, while Denso will adapt the chip for automotive use.
The new SoC aims to meet ISO 26262 standards and provide ASIL-B/D safety levels. With AEC-Q100 certification and integration according to automotive standards, the platform ensures high reliability for automakers and Tier-1 suppliers globally.
According to the press release, the platform’s technical features include:
Recent advancements in SoC technology have specifically tailored these chips for ADAS applications, which are increasingly incorporating AI and machine learning algorithms to improve vehicle safety and decision-making processes. With the integration of AI accelerators and support for an array of sensors, the new SoC is poised to enhance situational awareness and decision-making in automated systems.
Industry standards like ISO 26262 and AEC-Q100 play crucial roles in ensuring the safety and reliability of automotive electronics. ISO 26262 focuses on functional safety for electrical and electronic systems within road vehicles, while AEC-Q100 is a stress test qualification for integrated circuits, ensuring components withstand harsh automotive environments. MediaTek and Denso’s commitment to these standards showcases their dedication to developing cutting-edge, secure, automotive solutions.
