Mechrevo S500: Mini-PC with Big Surprises and Small Price

The company Mechrevo has released the S500 mini-PC, priced as though the market memory catastrophe is a mere myth. Priced at $355, this new release is a fully equipped PC with a mobile yet high-performance CPU. It is based on the 55-watt 10-core Core i5-14450HX. Additionally, the PC includes 16 GB of DDR5 and a 512 GB SSD, though a 1 TB version is also available.

Such a configuration was considered fairly standard months ago, but now, with the cost of 16 GB DDR5 alone ranging from $150 to $200, the price seems unexpectedly low.

The power supply is integrated and has a capacity of 200 W. Additional features include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and pre-installed Windows 11, so the low price cannot be attributed to the absence of an OS.

Considering the recent trends, many mini-PCs in the market are equipped with newer generation CPUs and graphics capabilities. The adoption of DDR5 RAM and NVMe SSDs has become more prevalent due to their enhanced performance benefits.

Windows 11 has quickly become the norm in consumer devices, placing it highly in demand on pre-built systems, potentially contributing to appeal but seemingly not altering base prices significantly due to Microsoft’s strategic pricing models for OEM partners.
