Mazda has unveiled the third generation of the CX-5, focusing more on electronics and services rather than design. The SUV has grown in size, shedding most physical controls and shifting to the modern EEA+ platform, which supports connectivity, OTA updates, and a vast array of assistive technologies. For Europe, prices have already been announced, starting from 35,000 EUR ($37,000), and the model will be available with both front and all-wheel drive, retaining the time-tested 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G gasoline engine paired with an automatic transmission.
The main innovation, however, lies in the integration of Google services. The interface spans three screens: a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, and a central touchscreen panel available in 12.9 or 15.6 inches. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remain, while Google’s voice assistant will later update to the Gemini platform. The interior has become more technology-focused: the steering wheel now features touch-sensitive controls, voice command functionality has been improved, and higher-end versions offer an advanced audio system
