Lexus Reinvents the IS Sedan: 2026 Model Embraces Advanced Features and Market Challenges

Lexus presented the updated IS sedan for the 2026 model year for the Japanese market. The main changes focused on the interior and drivability settings.

The sedan received an upgraded electric steering system with improved feedback, a slightly redesigned appearance, and a new rear spoiler for the F Sport versions. The biggest changes took place in the cabin: Lexus completely updated the dashboard and center console. Two 12.3-inch screens have been installed as part of the digital instrument panel and media system.

Features of the new special version F Sport Mode Black V include forged BBS wheels, red-painted brake calipers, and improved interior trim. Prices for the updated IS300h in Japan start at 5.8 million yen ($40,000), and the Mode Black V version is priced at 6.75 million yen ($46,500). Additionally, Lexus introduced a range of branded TRD accessories, including an aerodynamic body kit, a new diffuser, and a sports exhaust system.

In recent years, Lexus has been increasingly integrating advanced technologies in its models to keep up with the industry trend towards electrification and connectivity. With competitors like BMW and Mercedes-Benz rolling out similar updates, the Lexus IS 2026 model stands out with its blend of traditional luxury and modern technology. The addition of the digital interface signifies a step forward in creating an immersive driving experience while potentially attracting a younger audience keen on tech innovation.

Looking beyond, the Lexus IS is expected to continue evolving with potential hybrid and electric versions that align with Lexus’s global sustainability goals.
