Analysts at TrendForce have updated their forecasts concerning the doubling of memory prices, now including predictions for laptops. They forecast that mobile PC shipments will fall by 14.8% this quarter compared to the last. Annually, the drop will not be as substantial, at only 3.2%. The previous quarter was notably strong amid rising memory prices and promises of further market deterioration.

In the second quarter, a 3.6% quarterly growth is promised, though accompanied by an 8.5% annual decline. Besides memory prices, laptop manufacturers will face pressure from increased costs of processors, printed circuit boards, batteries, and power management chips. Global economic factors such as shipping expenses and fluctuating consumer demand are anticipated to impact market behavior significantly this year.
