Kia officially unveiled the flagship Telluride SUV on November 10, yet at that time, the engines were not disclosed. Now, the company has fully revealed the engine lineup and presented images of the top off-road version, the X-Pro.
The main technical innovation is the complete abandonment of the previous naturally aspirated V6. The model is now offered in two variants – turbocharged and hybrid. The Telluride Turbo is equipped with a 2.5-liter engine producing 274 hp, which is 17 hp less than the previous naturally aspirated model. The engine is paired with an eight-speed “automatic,” with either front or all-wheel drive.
The off-road versions, X-Pro, feature an E-LSD system that allows torque distribution between the axles and even individual wheels and include a lock for fixed torque distribution of 50/50.
At the top of the range is the Telluride Turbo Hybrid, which combines a 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, electric motors, and a traction battery with a capacity of 1.65 kW·h. The system’s power is 329 hp, with a torque of 460 Nm, which is 38 hp and 77 Nm more than the previous V6. The declared consumption is 6.7 liters per 100 km (35 mpg), and the maximum range is 965 km (600 miles).
The hybrid is equipped with a six-speed “automatic” and all-wheel drive with torque vector control. An optional self-leveling rear suspension is available.
The Telluride Hybrid also received a Stay Mode, allowing the climate system, audio, and lighting to operate for up to 20 minutes without starting the engine.
Electric powertrains for the Telluride are not planned – this role is assigned to Kia EV9. Updated model sales begin in the first quarter of 2026.
