Intel’s Core Ultra 200S Plus Emerges
According to a leak from insider HXL, the date for lifting the embargo on reviews of the new Core Ultra 200S Plus series (Arrow Lake Refresh) processors is set for March 23, 2026. 
Image: Videocardz Currently, two key models have been confirmed within the series: Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and Core Ultra 5 250K Plus. Both models will also be available in the ‘KF’ version (without an integrated graphics core).
No Core Ultra 9 290K Plus
Notably absent from this lineup is the top-tier model, Core Ultra 9 290K Plus. Multiple sources have reported that Intel decided not to release this CPU, although there has been no official notification of its cancellation. The reason behind the cancelation of Core Ultra 9 290K Plus appears intriguing: informed sources suggest that the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus will feature 24 cores-the same number as the Core Ultra 9 290K Plus. Therefore, if both were to be released, they would compete against each other, yet the lower-tier model would be less expensive. In such a scenario, releasing the Core Ultra 9 290K Plus may not make sense.
Industry Trends and Implications
This strategic move by Intel could have significant implications. The decision potentially avoids internal competition and allows Intel to reallocate resources to refine its manufacturing processes, focusing on core count advancements and efficiency improvements. Additionally, with AMD’s Ryzen 9 series stronghold in the market, Intel’s approach might be a calculated effort to solidify its position without cannibalizing its own products.
