Intel’s Panther Lake Processors: A Delayed Leap into the Future of Portables

Intel Core G3 processors for the Panther Lake line, aimed at portable consoles, are experiencing a slight delay. Initially expected in the first quarter, they are now targeted for the second. Intel has confirmed working on such products, although details remain scarce. Early reports suggest it will be a lineup of processors, but the number of models is unknown.

Previously, it was noted that the top-level CPU will feature a 12-core processor part (2+8+2) and a 12-core iGPU, similar to Arc B390. However, the power limit for these CPUs will be lower than laptops. We’ve seen that even at 30 watts, Arc B390 performs on par with Xbox Series S and even slightly better. This will certainly be a much more powerful solution than what’s currently available from AMD.

According to new insider data from Golden Pig Upgrade, we can expect at least two models in the Core G3 lineup, with both being quite similar. Both will feature 14 CPU cores (2+8+4), but the G3 model will be limited to a 10-core iGPU, while the G3 Extreme model will boast the top 12-core. The insider, Golden Pig Upgrade Pack, has previously shared performance leaks of various generations of Intel CPUs and published Intel slides describing Meteor Lake CPUs.

Looking ahead, these processors are expected to bring significant advancements to the handheld gaming market, enhancing capabilities beyond current standards. As manufacturers strive for more efficient energy usage, devices powered by these chips could see extended battery life while delivering exceptional performance.
