In the Geekbench database, fresh test results have emerged for Intel’s upcoming flagship, the Core Ultra 9 290K Plus processor. The newcomer belongs to the updated Arrow Lake Refresh series (Core Ultra 200S Plus) and shows a significant performance increase compared to the current flagship Core Ultra 9 285K.
According to the published data, the Core Ultra 9 290K Plus scored 3535 points in the single-threaded mode and 25,106 points in the multi-threaded test. This exceeds the Core Ultra 9 285K results by 11%. Compared to AMD’s latest flagship, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, the new Intel CPU was 4% faster in single-threaded and immediately 13% faster in multi-threaded tests. The testing was conducted on an Asus ROG STRIX Z890-E motherboard with 64 GB of DDR5-6800 RAM.
It is expected that the processor will retain the current configuration of 24 cores and 24 threads, with the main performance growth likely achieved through a substantial increase in clock speeds and possibly raising power consumption limits (TDP).
Industry experts note that the increase in clock speeds is a strategic move by Intel to close the gap with AMD’s offerings. One tech analyst pointed out that Intel’s emphasis on multi-threaded performance could be a game-changer for users requiring high computational power.
