Technical Advancements

What sets the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus apart is the increase in cores, featuring 18 total (6 performance cores and 12 efficient cores), a noteworthy upgrade from its predecessor by four cores. The base frequency clocks at 4.2 GHz, boosting up to 5.3 GHz (+100 MHz over the 245K). It houses a substantial level-three cache of 30 MB alongside 6 MB for the second level. Compatibility is ensured with the current LGA 1851 socket, marking the last processor family for this socket before the Nova Lake architecture ushers in the LGA 1954 socket.

Performance and Market Expectations

In testing on an Asus PRIME Z890-P motherboard, the processor scored 3113 in single-thread and 15,251 in multi-thread tests, suggesting solid performance gains from the refresh. These early numbers are promising, setting expectations for higher results in the final version. Reviews of the Core Ultra 200S Plus processors are slated for March 23, with product availability likely aligning.

Market reception is crucial, as consumers await processors delivering not only enhanced speed but also efficiency.

A Glance into the Future with Nova Lake

Intel’s Nova Lake architecture, set to transition to the LGA 1954 socket, is eagerly anticipated, promising further advancements in processing power and efficiency. As Intel rolls out these innovations, implications for consumer choice and competitive positioning in the processor market are being closely watched.
