A resident of Vietnam experienced quite a tech nightmare in a single day, losing 50 solid-state drives (SSDs) worth about $4,000 in a particularly unusual manner.
Upon returning home, he discovered all 50 SSDs had been bent. It turned out these were the handiwork of his son. Although detailed specifics are lacking, we know that the 10-year-old stumbled upon a box of drives and, with the zeal fitting more critical endeavors, tested each one for durability. As a result, all the SSDs are bent to varying extents.
Some of these may still be functional if the bends are minor, but others are clearly severely bent, exhibiting cracks on the PCB.
Interestingly, the affected individual mentioned he had recently stocked up on these drives in anticipation of price hikes. These were Samsung PM991a SSDs, each boasting 512 GB. A similar set now fetches around $3,800, reflecting recent pricing shifts in the SSD market.
Given that he shared this incident in his Build PC group on a social network, it’s likely he either works for or owns a business selling computers and components. This points to a larger trend in Vietnam, where local tech enthusiasts are actively engaged with global PC improvement forums, demonstrating an increasing commitment to technology and hardware development.
