Hongqi’s New Hybrid: Making Waves in the Luxury SUV Market

The Hongqi company has announced the start of pre-orders for the new plug-in hybrid crossover Hongqi HS6 PHEV, which belongs to the mid- and large-sized SUV segment. The novelty is presented in three versions: 145 Intelligent Hybrid, 240 Intelligent Hybrid, and 220 AWD Intelligent Hybrid. The price ranges from about $27,174 to $34,806.

It features a radiator grille with 12 chrome vertical lines, darkened headlights, various chrome elements, and four body color options: black, white, silver, and blue. The dimensions are approximately 194×77.6×68.5 inches, the wheelbase is about 115.2 inches (2925 mm).

The configuration is five-seater. Two variants of 20-inch wheels are available, with the lights stylized under the Hongqi logo. In terms of dimensions, equipment, and positioning, the HS6 PHEV is comparable to the Lexus TX.

The front panel is equipped with two screens – one for the front passenger and a 15.6-inch display with 2.5K resolution as part of the media system. The performance is powered by the SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P.

The equipment includes a Dynaudio audio system, an electric tailgate, three-zone climate control, facial recognition and surround view systems, a heated steering wheel, and a built-in refrigerator.

The Hongqi HS6 PHEV is equipped with a hybrid system based on a 1.5-liter turbo engine with a power of 148 hp. Traction batteries with a capacity of 23 kWh, allowing for 80-90 miles on electric alone, and 40 kWh, ranging up to 150-160 miles, are available. The front-wheel-drive versions have an engine with a capacity of 228 hp, the top all-wheel-drive version – with two electric motors with a total power of 501 hp.

Range as follows: 148 km (92 miles) on pure electricity/1580 km (982 miles) total – 23 kWh, 2WD; 248 km (154 miles) on pure electricity/1650 km (1025 miles) total – 40 kWh, 2WD; 228 km (142 miles) on pure electricity /1460 km (907 miles) total – 40 kWh, AWD.

The crossover received the Sinan autonomous driving system, which provides autonomous movement on the highway, automatic passing of barriers, turn signal control when changing lanes, and automatic parking.
