At the Guangzhou Auto Show, the Chinese premium brand Hongqi unveiled the flagship sedan Guoli in a special Danxia edition. The cost of the car by local standards is simply astronomical – 7.18 million yuan ($982,000), making the sedan the most expensive car in the manufacturer’s lineup.
The special Danxia version features unique decorative elements on the door panels and some other interior details. All four door panels are adorned with custom lacquer miniatures, highlighting the model’s status as a top-tier vehicle.
The car’s dimensions are 5980 mm × 2090 mm × 1710 mm, with a wheelbase of an impressive 3730 mm (147 inches). Under the hood lies a 4.0-liter V8 with twin turbochargers and an aluminum block. The maximum power is 380 hp, and the peak torque is 530 Nm. The engine operates paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The top speed is 220 km/h (137 mph), with 0–100 km/h acceleration in 7.9 seconds.
In recent developments, Hongqi’s focus on luxury and precision engineering is evident here. The automaker continues to broaden its appeal in the luxury segment, not only in China but also in burgeoning markets overseas, possibly challenging European counterparts with its competitive pricing and high-quality design.
