GWM’s Ambitious 2026 Cannon Unveiling: A Revamped Pickup for Every Need

GWM (Great Wall Motors) is set to debut the revamped 2026 Cannon lineup at the Guangzhou Auto Show on November 21. This family of vehicles will include passenger, off-road, and commercial versions, each offering updated exterior designs, interiors, and powertrains. The passenger model will transition to the new Coffee OS 3, enhancing multimedia capabilities and electronic interactions.

The off-road Cannon will retain its signature aggressive styling but will be equipped with the advanced BorgWarner 4A+ MLock all-wheel-drive system, which includes three differential locks, alongside a comprehensive suite of off-road gear: a T-Max winch, snorkel, skid plates, and reinforced bumpers.

Positioned as a mid-size pickup, the Cannon measures 5444 x 1958 x 1893 mm with a ground clearance of 228 mm and approach/departure angles of 30° and 26°, respectively. Interior features include a 12.3-inch display, physical buttons, and wireless charging. The commercial version will stand out with a redesigned front end, featuring dual-lens LED headlights, new fog lamps, and 18-inch wheels.

The powertrain options available for all versions comprise a 2.0-liter petrol engine delivering 140 kW and 360 Nm, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and a 2.4-liter diesel engine offering between 135 and 137 kW and 480 Nm, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

As GWM continues to expand its international presence, the introduction of the updated Cannon family is expected to bolster its market position, especially given the increasing global demand for versatile and technologically-equipped pickups. Analysts point out that with the rapid advancements in off-road technologies and connectivity, the Cannon is well-positioned to meet evolving customer expectations worldwide. The Chinese automaker’s focus on blending innovation with rugged reliability is set to attract attention, particularly in markets where such features are highly valued.
