Introduction of the New Haval H9 Off-Road Edition
Great Wall Motors has unveiled the latest skeleton-frame SUV, the Haval H9 Off-Road Edition, at a price of 257,900 CNY ($36,106) in China. This version is specially designed for heavy-duty off-road conditions, built on an upgraded platform of the existing model.
Design and Specifications
The SUV retains the signature H9 styling but adds a more rugged and utilitarian touch, featuring a large horizontal decorative grille and new headlights. Its dimensions are 5070 x 1976 x 1960 mm, with a wheelbase of 2850 mm. The ground clearance has increased to 235 mm (+11 mm), the approach angle has been enhanced from 31 to 33 degrees, and the departure angle to 26 degrees. The vehicle’s height has risen by 30 mm, and the width by 16 mm.

Enhanced Off-road Capability
Standard features include all-terrain tires and dual fuel tanks with a total capacity of 131 liters (35 gallons), significantly extending the range compared to the standard diesel version. The declared range is up to 1400 km (870 miles) as per the CLTC cycle.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the cabin is designed in a black-brown color scheme, replicating the interior layout of the standard H9: a 10.25-inch instrument panel, a 14.6-inch central screen, ventilated and heated front seats, and Level 2 driver assistance systems.
Powertrain and Performance
Under the hood, there is a 2.4-liter diesel engine delivering 186 horsepower and 490 Nm of torque. It operates alongside a 9-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system, with front and rear differential locks available for enhanced terrain handling.

Market Expansion and the Automotive Scene
In October this year, the Haval H9 for 2025 entered the Russian market, offering options with both a 2.0-liter gasoline engine producing 218 hp and a 2.4-liter diesel engine delivering 184 hp.
As part of China’s growing commitment to environmental sustainability, Great Wall Motors has also been pushing toward green innovation, with increased investments in electric and hybrid technologies. This aligns with China’s broader trend of leading the global electric vehicle market.
