Google’s Operating System Shake-Up: Patience Required as Aluminium OS Wait Extends

Despite screenshots of the Aluminium OS operating system, which Google is developing for PCs, having already leaked online, the system itself will not be released in the near future. The Verge reports that the wait will be another couple of years. The source obtained this information from court documents related to an antitrust lawsuit against Google. It states that the launch of Aluminium OS is targeted for 2028. Of course, Google might change the release date, but for now, that is the goal.

Aluminium OS, as known, is supposed to replace Chrome OS, but now it is clear that this replacement won’t be fast. The operating systems will coexist on the market for many years. Currently, Google plans to complete the Chrome OS project only in 2034. However, this might also refer to ending support, while new devices with Chrome OS might cease to appear in 2028 or slightly later after the launch of Aluminium OS.
