Smartphones Google Pixel 9, it seems, are soon to receive support for the Quick Share feature, which allows data exchange with iPhones using AirDrop. Quick Share became available for the Pixel 10 line in November, and now a fresh Android Canary build for the Pixel 9 series has acquired additional system files necessary to enable Quick Share. It’s just a matter of time before its full deployment. The only issue is that these files were missing in the software for the Pixel 9a.
Google had previously directly stated that it would later add the feature to older smartphones, but it’s unclear which specific lines, apart from Pixel 10 and now Pixel 9, will receive Quick Share support.
The bilateral data exchange between Android and Apple devices works with photos, videos, and other files. Google explains the operation as follows: The feature does not use a workaround; the connection is direct and peer-to-peer, meaning your data is never routed through a server, the shared content is never logged, and no additional data is transmitted.
As of early 2026, Google has been pushing boundaries in achieving seamless integration between different ecosystems, notably with Apple. This strategic move aligns with the growing demand for interoperability, which benefits users by providing more flexible data sharing options across platforms. The implementation of Quick Share on Pixel 9 is anticipated to enhance user experience by facilitating effortless file transfers without extra steps or security concerns.
Initial feedback from users who have experienced the Quick Share feature on Pixel 10 has been overwhelmingly positive, citing ease of use and rapid transfer speeds. There are high expectations for similar performance and user satisfaction with Pixel 9’s upcoming update.
