Google has been out of the tablet game for a while, but that hasn’t stopped the company from throwing a lifeline to existing customers. They recently announced an extension of update support for the Pixel Tablet, giving it new life.
Released in 2023 with Android 13, the Pixel Tablet was initially slated to receive two major OS updates, reaching up to Android 15. This extension now means that Pixel Tablet users will enjoy software updates until 2028-providing an impressive five years of OS support.

The Pixel Tablet, backed by the Tensor G2 SoC and equipped with 8GB of RAM, still holds strong hardware credentials amidst current standards. This move aligns with Google’s broader trend of increasing update periods. Recently, the company set a precedent by offering seven years of updates for its smartphones.
While there haven’t been any new announcements regarding further extensions for other devices, users and industry experts are speculating that Google’s continual enhancement in update policy could soon trickle down to more of its product line. With major players in mobile tech pushing for longer update cycles, Google’s move could set a new benchmark for Tablets.
