Google Expands Quick Share: Android Gains iOS Sharing Power

Google has delighted Android users by announcing that this year, support for the Quick Share feature will extend beyond the Pixel smartphone lineup. This feature allows Android smartphone owners to share files with iPhones using AirDrop. Google explains its operation as follows: The feature does not use any workaround; the connection is direct and peer-to-peer, meaning your data is never routed through a server, shared content is never recorded, and no additional data is transmitted.

Initially, the feature first appeared on Pixel 10 smartphones, followed by reports that Pixel 9 models would receive it, and now it is reported that owners of Android smartphones from other brands will also be able to use it. Last year, we launched the AirDrop compatibility feature. In 2026, we plan to expand its support to many more devices. We have spent a lot of time and effort ensuring that we can create a product compatible not only with iPhone but also with iPad and MacBook. Now that we have proven this, we are working with our partners to expand its use across the rest of the ecosystem, and interesting announcements await you soon. While the conditions are still unknown, it is quite possible that a fairly recent version of Android will be required. So far, among manufacturers themselves, only Nothing has confirmed work on this feature.

This strategic move comes as Google continues to innovate in the realm of cross-platform compatibility. Further collaborations with manufacturers are expected, focusing on seamless integration and user-friendly technology. As of February 2026, Google has signaled its commitment to enhance user experience by planning additional updates that align Android devices with broader connectivity functions.
