Earlier, Google confirmed in one of its supporting documents that the proprietary digital assistant, Google Assistant, would become unavailable on “most mobile phones” this year. However, the company kept us in the dark regarding the specific timeframe when the assistant would cease to exist. Now, Google has provided a more definitive schedule. 
Generated by the Midjourney neural network, Google quietly notified on the Android Auto support page that Google Assistant “will be available for use until March 2026.” Therefore, if the company sticks to this plan, Gemini will automatically replace Google Assistant after the specified deadline in March.
Currently, users can return to “Google Assistant” even if they have already switched to Gemini, but after the support period ends, this option will be lost. Google had previously promised that Gemini would handle all “Assistant” commands and that Gemini could be addressed “like a human.” However, not all Android smartphones support Gemini, and Google has still not explained whether devices will be able to continue working with Google Assistant.
