Genesis, the premium brand under Hyundai, has released a batch of high-quality photos of the G90 Wingback wagon. Previously showcased in France, where it outshone other brand newcomers, this new photo release heralds the likely debut of the serial G90 Wingback.
Despite being built on the flagship sedan G90 platform, its exterior is completely reimagined. The car boasts wide fenders, an aggressive front bumper, updated air intakes, and an unconventional roof featuring ribs instead of traditional rails. At the rear, a large diffuser, dual-element spoiler, and four exhaust pipes meet the eye.
In the interior, leather is replaced by a suede-like material, alongside eye-catching seats with enhanced side support and contrasting green trim.
According to Genesis’ Creative Director Luc Donckerwolke, such concepts are a response to the market saturation with crossovers and hint at the return of alternative body styles. He hailed the Wingback as a 1bridge between Magma and exclusive project programs.7 Again, hinting at its series production, albeit within a limited series.
Manfred Harrer, head of the Performance Development division, has confirmed the development of an updated G90 platform for future Magma models – potentially providing a base for such variants as the Wingback.
The serial Genesis G90 uses a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo engine, but the Magma version requires a more powerful solution. Both hybrid and V8 options are considered, possibly based on the racing engine for the Genesis hypercar. Such an approach will allow the brand to compete with BMW M and Mercedes-AMG, which already employ powerful plug-in hybrid systems based on the V8 engine.
As of late 2025, Genesis is increasingly integrating electric vehicle technologies into its models. Discussions have emphasized the strategic move towards EVs, signaling a possible future where the Wingback or similar models align with this electric shift.
