Geely’s SiEngine Surpasses Global ADAS Standards with New 7nm SoCs

The subsidiary of Geely, SiEngine, has initiated the mass production of 7nm system-on-chips. This new series includes SoC AD1000 and AD800, which offer platform support to car manufacturers for achieving autonomous driving levels L2–L4. Established in 2018, SiEngine is an automobile SoC manufacturing company founded by Ecarx (backed by Geely) and Arm China. It operates several research and development centers in Wuhan, Neijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Shenyang. SiEngine supplies SoCs for ADAS and instrument panels to companies like Geely, Geely Galaxy, Lynk & Co, Volvo, Hongqi, Changan Nevo, and Volkswagen. It remains the only Chinese company producing 7nm SoCs for instrument panels.

According to SiEngine, the AD1000 system-on-chip was tested against most available international ADAS products, and it exceeds them in key performance metrics such as CPU performance, image processing power ISP, and memory capacity. The SoC AD1000 utilizes a 7nm multicore architecture with a peak computational power of 512 TOPS (trillions of operations per second). Up to four SoC AD1000 can be installed in a single vehicle to achieve a performance of 2048 TOPS. The memory bandwidth reaches 204 GB/s.

Amid the industry’s rapid technological evolution, SiEngine’s advancements place them squarely at the forefront of innovative automotive computing solutions. Recent developments include further honing their 7nm chips’ efficiency and potential collaborations for expanding autonomous vehicle testing. Industry leaders have remarked on the cutting-edge architecture SiEngine has brought to the market, marking a significant stride in China’s technology capabilities.
