Geely Holding Group held an event in Beijing where they announced the launch of their next-generation hybrid technology, the Geely i-HEV Intelligent Dual Engine. The company declared it would be the world’s first self-charging hybrid system with AI, and by 2026, 4-5 models equipped with this technology would hit the market.
According to Geely, the i-HEV system will provide a fuel economy of about 3 liters per 100 km (78 mpg). Reports from «Chinese Cars» suggest that one such AI-equipped hybrid will be the Preface i-HEV, with dimensions of 4825 x 1869 x 1469 mm and a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 112 hp under the hood. No further technical details have been disclosed.
Industry experts are lauding the integration of AI in hybrid vehicles as a pioneering move that sets a new standard in automotive technology. The self-charging feature enhances convenience, and the environmental benefits are substantial, potentially decreasing the overall carbon footprint of vehicles globally.
In a statement, a Geely representative emphasized, “We are committed to leading the transformation towards sustainable mobility. Our new i-HEV technology offers unparalleled efficiency and eco-friendliness.”
The market awaits new model announcements, with anticipations of additional enhancements and refinements in the i-HEV system to boost performance further. As the automotive sector shifts towards greener solutions, Geely’s innovations exemplify a blend of sustainability and advanced engineering.
