DJI has unveiled the Osmo Action 6 action camera, boasting a significantly large image sensor. While the specific model of the sensor is not disclosed, it features an optical format of 1/1.1 inches. Simply put, this is almost a one-inch sensor. In comparison, the previous generation had a 1/1.3-inch sensor.
The camera also includes a variable aperture ranging from f/2.0 to f/4.0 and offers up to four hours of battery life, thanks to its 1950 mAh battery. It can record 4K video at 120 fps in a 4:3 format. DJI highlights that the enlarged sensor should improve low-light performance. The SuperNight mode supports 4K video recording at 60 fps in low-light settings. A 10-bit D-Log M color system is designed to retain details in both highlighted and shadowed areas. Moreover, the new camera has a feature for D-Log M preview on the screen for real-time color and exposure control.
The camera offers a 155-degree field of view. It is water-resistant, allowing for filming at depths of up to 20 meters without a special case. It even includes a depth gauge for diving. The internal memory of the camera is 50 GB, but it also supports microSD cards. The main screen measures 2.5 inches with a resolution of 400 x 712 pixels, while the additional screen is 1.46 inches with a resolution of 342 x 342 pixels. The dimensions of the new model are 73 x 47 x 33 mm, weighing 149 g.
The camera is equipped with three microphones and supports Wi-Fi 6. DJI’s asking price for the new product is 380 EUR ($377). For 480 EUR ($476), you can purchase a bundle with two additional batteries, an extra mount, the Osmo Multifunctional Battery Case 3, and a selfie stick.
