Dbrand’s Game-Changing Covers Roll Out As Valve Unveils Steam Machine

The American company Dbrand has announced the release of a skin for the Steam Machine – a new hybrid device from Valve combining features of a personal computer and a gaming console. The case is designed in the style of the Companion Cube, the iconic character from the Portal game series. Companion Cube will be the first in a series of themed covers for the Steam Machine.

As Dbrand’s CEO Adam Ijha mentioned in an interview, this cover attaches to the device’s body without obstructing air intakes or ventilation, and doesn’t block access to the ports on the console’s back panel. The release of the cover is scheduled for 2026, coinciding with the anticipated release date of the Steam Machine itself. The exact release date and cost of the Companion Cube are not yet disclosed.

Besides the Companion Cube, Dbrand is also developing other themed skins, particularly in the style of the Nintendo GameCube and a block from Minecraft. For Portal fans, turning the console into a visual artifact of the favorite game is not just a tribute, but a way to personalize their equipment. More details on the design, delivery timelines, and the shell’s price are expected in the coming months.
