Cybenetics Lab Reinvents Graphics Card Power Cables with Built-in Safety and Control

Cybenetics Lab has introduced a power cable for graphics cards featuring additional protective measures. Fascinatingly, this power cable connects to another cable, necessary for the control module within the same cable. As shown in the photo, this is no ordinary cable. Closer to one of the connectors, there is a block responsible for additional protection.

The block contains electronics that monitor the power lines. However, its capabilities extend significantly further. The second cable in discussion is a USB-C. Through this cable, the block connects to a PC, and proprietary software allows not only monitoring of power parameters but also setting threshold values for current and temperature.

Concerning current, it ranges from 8-12 A per line, while the temperature range is 80-95 degrees Celsius. It also includes two settings: a sound signal timer and a protection activation timer. The first setting determines the time interval after exceeding the threshold, upon which a warning sound will play. The second setting specifies after how many seconds the cable will cut off power. By default, both values are set to ten seconds.

The device comes with default settings, so connecting it via USB is not mandatory. Users can connect once, configure and disconnect: the settings are stored in the block itself. An important point: it must be directly connected to the 12V-2×6 port on the power supply, implying the unit needs to be quite modern. Adapters are not usable with this cable.
