Crossover Conundrum: IM LS9’s Built-In Shower Sparks Debate

Skeptics have questioned the practicality of the built-in shower in the IM LS9 crossover, which offers a range of up to 930 miles (1500 km). In discussions with a company representative, it was revealed that the crossover would also feature a graphene-heated floor. Some argue that the 10-liter water tank is too small for a full shower and claim that adding bathroom-like elements might complicate the design, reduce available space, and increase energy consumption.

Critics label these options as marketing gimmicks, emphasizing that the primary purpose of the crossover is transportation and driving performance, not mimicking home comfort.

Others counter that these conveniences might indeed be useful for specific groups of users. Residents of cold regions or those frequently outdoors could benefit from floor heating and the ability to wash hands on the go.

The Chief Technology Officer of IM Motors stated that although conveniences like floor heating or a shower in a car might seem ‘childish’ from a purely engineering perspective, they are based on real user needs. He noted that many users in northeastern China are accustomed to heated floors in homes, and providing a similar level of comfort in a car ensures flexibility in daily life and travel.

The company emphasized that these features are optional and are intended to complement the main capabilities of the SUV, not replace them. Additionally, IM Motors announced plans to enhance the efficiency of these features by integrating renewable energy solutions, ensuring minimal impact on the overall energy consumption of the vehicle.
