The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) concluded 2025 with a groundbreaking record of space launches, tallying up to an unparalleled 73 missions over twelve months. This achievement surpasses their previous year’s performance, firmly establishing CASC as one of the most dynamic players in the global space sector. The year’s finale was marked by another successful lift-off on December 31, where a Changzheng-7A rocket from the Wenchang spaceport on Hainan Island carried two Shijian-29 satellites, modifications A and B, into orbit. Conducted early morning Beijing time, this launch became the 623rd mission for the Long March family. Developed by CASC’s Eighth Research Institute, these satellites are designed for testing cutting-edge space object detection technologies.
This launch was the 14th in the rocket’s operational history and the sixth in 2025 alone. China’s ambitions remain relentless as it systematically broadens its space program, advancing satellite constellations, lunar initiatives, and missions targeting asteroids and Mars, while also managing its space station, which champions international collaboration.
