China’s New Gaming GPU: A Subtle Threat to Industry Giants?

In China, a new homegrown graphics card is set to hit the market soon, promising to handle modern gaming effectively. Reports indicate that the Lisuan 7G100 has already entered the customer sampling and testing phase.

This suggests that the launch is close at hand, although the company has not rushed to announce when this adapter could be purchased. Furthermore, the company appears to be behind its schedule, having initially planned for mass production in September earlier this year. Given the current status, we might see the cards by the end of the first quarter of 2026.

The Lisuan 7G100 is intriguing because its GPU is manufactured using a 6nm process. While this is a less cutting-edge process compared to current solutions from AMD, Nvidia, and even Intel, it’s an improvement over 12-14nm technologies. Initial leaks suggest that, at least in Geekbench OpenCL, this card can compete with modern adapters at the level of an RTX 3060.

The innovation will come in two versions: the gaming 7G106 and the professional 7G105. They are based on the same GPU; however, the gaming card will have 12GB of memory, whereas the professional version will have double that amount.

With the gaming world hungry for affordability and performance, this local development in China poses a curious threat to renowned brands, as it may appeal to budget-conscious consumers seeking performance without the premium attached to western brands. The success of Lisuan 7G100 could potentially influence how pricing and competition unfold globally, particularly if they manage to undercut prices of established players, which remains a key concern in the highly competitive GPU market.
