A new charging system from the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD will feature significantly higher output power than the company’s megawatt charging devices released in 2025. Data circulating on Chinese social networks and automotive forums suggest a peak input of 2100 kW, nearly double that of the existing BYD system introduced in March 2025. However, BYD has yet to officially confirm the technical specifications of the new system.

Earlier information disclosed second-generation BYD charging stations supporting up to 1500 kW of power and 1500 A current. However, a new photo indicates a capacity of 2100 kW, implying that BYD may plan further power increases for its network of ultra-fast charging stations. The first generation of BYD’s megawatt charging devices was officially unveiled on March 17, 2025, as part of the company’s Super e-Platform launch. It delivered a peak charging power of up to 1000 kW, supported a 1000 V architecture, and allowed compatible vehicles to increase range by approximately 400 km (249 miles) in five minutes under ideal conditions. The system was integrated into models such as the Han L sedan and Tang L SUV, and BYD announced plans to deploy thousands of such charging devices nationwide.
