BMW Revamps the 3 Series: A Mix of Power and Electrification for 2026

BMW is gearing up to unveil the next generation of the 3 Series in November 2026, emphasizing significant powertrain updates. The lineup will feature an enhanced four-cylinder B48TU3 engine, designed to be more powerful and efficient due to innovative engineering solutions. Concurrently, the company is working on a thorough rehaul of the six-cylinder B58TU3 engine. It will debut in the summer of 2027 with the revamped 7 Series G70, and later be integrated into the future M350 version.

The initial offering of the new 3 Series will include two main options: the gasoline-powered G50 and the electric i3 variant. This approach allows BMW to uphold its commitment to classic models while simultaneously providing a fully electric alternative. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 3 Series, BMW has also unveiled a limited edition sedan named the M340i xDrive 50 Jahre Edition. This eclectic blend of traditional and electric powered vehicles signifies BMW’s adaptive strategy in a rapidly evolving automotive industry.
