Apparently, one way to purchase a computer at older prices is to visit a pawn shop. A Reddit user, known by the pseudonym uneektnt, discovered a computer in a Portuguese pawn shop priced at 750 EUR ($844). Even visually, it was clear that this wasn’t just any basic and quite a modern system.
The user negotiated the price down to 600 EUR ($675), and it quickly became apparent at home that this computer was a treasure worth only the price of a RAM kit. Inside, they found a Core i9-14900KF with liquid cooling, 64 GB of DDR5-6000 RAM, and a Zotac GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super. Just a few months ago, this setup would have fetched noticeably more on the second-hand market, and even now, the 64 GB RAM alone could cost around those 600 EUR.
In recent months, electronics sales in pawn shops have surged. Given the volatile pricing in the tech market, items like high-end graphics cards and processors frequently appear in shops worldwide, resembling bargains amidst the modern pricing landscape. Whether due to economic necessity or tech enthusiasts offloading older yet powerful components, these venues have turned into unexpected tech goldmines.
