Asus has launched the incredibly fast gaming monitor ROG Strix XG248QSG Ace in Europe for 970 EUR ($1,056). This model is notable for its panel with a refresh rate of 610 Hz, not the record nowadays, but still among the best. However, this rate is reached only after enabling the overclocking feature, and without it, Asus does not specify the frequency.
It’s also worth mentioning that it’s a 24-inch Full HD TN-panel monitor. This means it is primarily suited for real eSports athletes, for whom color reproduction and high resolution are not as important. Additionally, the company talks about ELMB 2 technology, which reduces motion blur. The input lag is 0.8 ms, and the response time is stated as 0.1 ms.
Interestingly, the ROG Strix XG248QSG Ace was chosen as the official monitor for the remaining tournaments of the BLAST Counter-Strike 2 Tournament Series 2025. The use of TN panels, despite not having the vibrant colors of IPS or VA panels, is favored in eSports for their low input lag and fast response times.
Gaming monitors with high refresh rates significantly impact the industry by setting new performance benchmarks. The feature, ELMB 2, enhances the gaming experience by minimizing motion blur, providing clearer and smoother visuals, which is crucial for professional gamers. The eSports community has positively received the monitor, recognizing its contribution to competitive gaming environments.
