The limited edition Asus ROG Matrix RTX 5090 graphics card, priced at $4000, surprisingly does not have a defect; its asymmetrically positioned power connector is, as they say, not a bug but a feature. A few days ago, it became known that one of the buyers of the card encountered a problem: he could not connect the power plug because the power connector is located in a recess of the cooler frame with an offset to one of the edges of the frame. It turned out this is not a defect of the unit, but a feature of this model, meaning it is present on all units.
The owner returned the Asus card, and the company soon provided a response. After verification by our engineering team, it was determined that the off-center positioning of the power connector is part of the initial product design, defined based on overall structural and electrical considerations. Of course, in this case, Asus cannot fix or replace the card with a “normal” one because this unit is already normal. Judging by the lack of complaints about other units, apparently, most power cables still fit, and in this particular case, the plug was probably larger than usual. This is not a problem, as you can always replace the cable, but for a limited edition card priced at $4000, it’s quite a strange oversight. According to the exchange rate, this equates to approximately 368,000 ₽. The owner himself wrote that he would take the opportunity to return the card since less than 30 days had passed since the purchase.
As of December 2025, the RTX 5090 is one of the most powerful graphics cards, featuring 24GB GDDR6X memory and advanced ray tracing capabilities. With its high-end performance, the RTX 5090 is seen as a competitor to AMD’s RX 7900 XTX. Recent reviews praise its exceptional graphics fidelity and cutting-edge capabilities, although they also note the high price tag. For enthusiasts who prioritize performance above all, the RTX 5090 remains a centerpiece in gaming setups, albeit with the curious design choice of its power connector placement.
