ASRock’s DeskSlim Mini-PCs: Compact Innovations with Platform Diversity

ASRock has expanded its lineup with two new mini-PCs in the DeskSlim series. The DeskSlim B760 and X600 models are identical in appearance but built on different platforms. The first offers the LGA-1700 platform with Intel Core processors from the 12th to the 14th generation, whereas the second is based on AM5 with Ryzen 7000/8000/9000 CPUs. It appears that future Ryzen processors with Zen 6 cores will also be compatible. However, the first supports CPUs with a TDP of up to 125W, while the latter only supports up to 65W for some reason.

The case, with a volume of just under 5 liters, measures 235 x 220 x 95 mm. It has four slots for RAM, two slots for SSDs, and two more for 2.5-inch format drives. Inside there is even a PCIe 5.0 slot for graphics cards. There is enough space for a dual-slot solution up to 200 mm in length, allowing for something sufficiently powerful like the RTX 5060 Ti.

The AMD platform model includes a USB4 port, while the Intel version lacks this feature. Most likely, the PCs will be sold as Barebone kits, but there may also be fully assembled systems. Interestingly, companies like ASUS, Gigabyte, and others are increasingly integrating similar platform flexibility and compact form factors into their mini-PC offerings, enhancing user customization and future upgradeability. Furthermore, with the technological landscape shifting towards more power-efficient and compact designs, these features position DeskSlim products well for upcoming trends in the mini-PC market.
