However, when discussing GPU performance, the M5 Pro might not reach the levels of the M4 Max, yet both new platforms are expected to be approximately 30-40% more powerful than the current generation.
What further distinguishes these upcoming platforms is the potential availability in a greater variety of configurations than previous generations. This flexibility is attributed to TSMC’s groundbreaking SoIC-mH packaging technology, which allows the SoC to be assembled from separate modules similar to building blocks. This innovation could enhance both power efficiency and customization options for users.
As for the release of laptops with these advanced platforms, the timeline remains uncertain. However, a new generation of MacBook Pro with OLED displays and the anticipated M6 chip is expected to be released by the end of the year.
