Apple Reveals AI Workout Coach ‘Workout Buddy’ at WWDC 2025

Apple Unveils AI-Powered Virtual Coach ‘Workout Buddy’ at WWDC 2025

At WWDC 2025, Apple introduced Workout Buddy, a pioneering virtual coach powered by artificial intelligence. Designed to personalize fitness experiences, it evaluates users’ past and current workout data, offering real-time, tailored feedback to enhance fitness goals.

Advanced AI Integration

The Workout Buddy utilizes Apple Intelligence, featuring a sophisticated text-to-speech model. This system provides motivational commentary using voices resembling real-life trainers. Voices are crafted from recordings of renowned Fitness+ instructors, including James Heffernan and Cybill Moore. Users can select from a range of voice options to find their ideal motivator.

Enhanced Workout Tracking

With updates to the Apple Watch and iPhone Workout app, users will receive enhanced motivational feedback during their activities. The app assesses critical parameters like heart rate and distance pace, delivering post-session summaries of key achievements, such as celebrating a first 10K run.

Focus on Personalization and Privacy

Initially supporting popular workout types in English, Workout Buddy emphasizes user personalization and privacy. At its conference, Apple highlighted these core values, ensuring users can trust the service with their fitness data.

Streamlined User Experience

The new interface on the Apple Watch simplifies access to features like Custom Workout and Race Route with just one click. Additionally, users can enjoy improved music management through Apple Music, which automatically curates playlists based on workout types or personal preferences, also suggesting collections from previously listened content.

With these innovations, Apple continues to lead in integrating technology with fitness, offering users a smarter and more engaging workout experience.
