Apple Embraces Android with Google Cast Update While Netflix Drops the Ball

Apple launched the official Apple TV app for Android in February 2025, but up until now, it did not support Google Cast. With the addition of this feature, users can easily switch between screens, even while watching an episode. The new feature is available in the latest version of the Apple TV app numbered 2.2.

It’s noteworthy that at the beginning of December 2025, Netflix disabled the streaming of content from mobile devices to televisions and the new Chromecast devices with remote controls. This move by Apple to support Google Cast comes as a timely advantage for users who consider such streaming capabilities crucial.

This strategic update places Apple TV in a favorable position compared to competitors like Netflix, especially in attracting Android users who value seamless casting experiences. The addition of Google Cast could significantly expand Apple’s user base and offer a consistent viewing option for users affected by the recent changes in Netflix’s features on Android devices.
