AMD’s Strategic Masterstroke Continues to Outsell Intel CPUs

AMD processors are increasingly capturing the share from Intel’s CPUs in the DIY segment. The latest Amazon ranking shows that Ryzen models have taken the top 14 spots on the list of best-selling CPUs. In November of last year, Ryzen models occupied the top 12 spots for the first time, but now, as we can see, AMD’s position has strengthened. In the list of the 15 best-selling positions, there is no Intel processor. The positions are 15, not 14, as mentioned above, because the 14th position is occupied not by a processor, but by a Thermal Grizzly AM5 socket frame. If we talk specifically about processors, the first representative of Intel took precisely the 15th place, and it is the Core i9-14900K. It is quite telling that this is not a novelty. Moreover, the next four positions are also taken by Intel – they are all processors from previous generations, while the Core Ultra 9 285K, which is the first among new products on the list, ranks only 30th.

Speaking of leaders, they include Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 9600X, 7800X3D, the old 5800XT, and the similarly old 5500. Even the even older Ryzen 5 3600 from 2019 still occupies the seventh place because it costs only $68. With recent launches like the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, AMD has been receiving positive feedback due to its performance in both gaming and multi-threaded tasks.

Industry experts speculate this trend might continue as AMD remains aggressive in pricing and performance optimization, often releasing updates and tweaking architecture faster than Intel. Meanwhile, Intel’s newer generation CPUs are reportedly less appealing in terms of price-to-performance ratio, which could explain its struggle in climbing the best-selling lists.
