AMD’s RDNA 5 GPUs: A Waiting Game Until 2027 Amidst Market Challenges

It seems the release of new graphics cards, at least from AMD, is a distant prospect. According to recent information from insider Kepler, the launch of these models is expected only in mid-2027, likely in the fall as usual. In this case, it concerns entirely new GPUs based on the RDNA 5 architecture. These chips will be manufactured at TSMC’s facilities using the N3P process technology.

The Radeon RX 9000 graphics cards, based on the RDNA 4 architecture, were released earlier this year. So the generation change at AMD this time will take about two and a half years, which is quite normal. Likely, the GeForce RTX 60 might be expected around the same time.

However, it is essential to consider the current catastrophe in the memory market. Although the situation should have improved by mid-2027, we cannot rule out that AMD may postpone the launch to the late 2027 or even 2028 to avoid purchasing memory at a significant premium. Kepler, the insider, has repeatedly shared detailed information about the characteristics of future AMD CPUs and GPUs, particularly platforms for gaming consoles. He was the one who once revealed the features of the PS5 Slim.

Future Competition and Technological Challenges

The competitive landscape is also defined by NVIDIA’s anticipated launch around the same period, putting pressure on AMD to balance innovation with market readiness.

Notably, the technological transition to 3nm process by TSMC could yield performance improvements and energy efficiency gains, critical for both gaming enthusiasts and professional users seeking high computational powers.
