AMD’s Ambitions Soar: Bold Market Gains Amidst Healthy Competition

The company AMD continues to increase its share across all segments of the processor market. According to data from Mercury Research, AMD’s share in the x86-compatible CPU market overall has risen to 23.9%. However, Tom’s Hardware reports it as 25.6%, creating some confusion over whether the error lies in the diagram or the text.

Be that as it may, the order of numbers remains the same. It is more interesting to look at each segment’s figures separately.

AMD remains weakest in the mobile segment. Here, the company’s share stands at 21.9%, which is even slightly lower than last year’s result (22.3%), but more than the previous quarter (20.6%). Meanwhile, the situation in the desktop segment is the best. Here, AMD’s share has already risen to 33.6%, marking the best figure in at least the last nine years, possibly in AMD’s entire history. For comparison, a year ago, the company’s share was 28.7%.

In the server segment, things also look good: the share has increased from 24.2% to 27.8% over the past year. Remember, AMD wants to reach the mark of 50% and more with the upcoming Epyc Venice CPUs.

Notably, AMD recently introduced its Ryzen 7000 series, expected to further boost its desktop dominance. On the server side, anticipation builds around advanced security features and collaborations with cloud providers aimed at cementing AMD’s position in the data center market. Experts suggest that while Intel remains a formidable competitor, AMD’s innovative offerings are reshaping the industry’s landscape. The momentum is set to continue as AMD focuses on refining performance and efficiency in its upcoming products.
