Spy photographers have for the first time captured the 2027 Hyundai Tucson prototype without its bulky black camouflage. This allowed for a more detailed look at the design of the upcoming model, which promises to be entirely opposite the current generation: the new crossover will feature smooth lines, streamlined shapes, and minimalism. The appearance of the novelty will echo last year’s Crater concept, but in a more restrained execution.
The Hyundai Tucson 2027’s grille has become almost closed (similar to electric cars), and the daytime running lights smoothly flow into the main headlight units. The car will receive retractable door handles, a ‘clamshell’ type hood, and massive wheel arch extensions.
At the back, instead of the brand’s signature ‘tusk’-shaped lights, there are vertical blocks spread across the edges of the body. The license plate area has moved from the tailgate to the bumper.
The official premiere of the new Tucson is expected at the end of the current year. The crossover will be electrified: the company is preparing updated hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. The most exciting addition to the lineup could be a full-fledged N version. According to rumors, it will get a combination of a 1.6-liter turbo engine and an electric motor on the rear axle. This setup will not only provide the crossover with all-wheel drive but also allow for a total power output of an impressive 300 hp. Such capabilities could make it a rival to the top version of the new Toyota RAV4.
