Ryzen 7 9850X3D: A Peek into AMD’s Gaming Efficiency Without Breaking the Bank

An intriguing slide from an updated presentation by AMD has surfaced online, dedicated to the upcoming Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor. The document reveals interesting details about the dependency of the processor’s performance on the speed of RAM, as well as a comparison of DDR5 module prices. Ryzen 7 9850X3D Image: Videocardz

The slide compares system performance with DDR5-4800 and the faster DDR5-6000 memory (in a 2×16 GB configuration). According to AMD’s tests, the average frame rate difference (FPS) between these kits across more than 30 games is less than 1%. Examples include Cyberpunk 2077, Far Cry 6, Red Dead Redemption 2, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Performance gains from switching to faster memory varied within the margin of error – from +0.2% to +1.6%. This means that thanks to 3D V-Cache technology, users can save on purchasing expensive RAM kits without losing gaming performance. Ryzen 7 9850X3D Image: AMD

AMD supports its claims with price data from PCPartPicker as of January 9th. The company notes a significant price difference: the DDR5-6000 2×16 GB set was priced at approximately $470, while the DDR5-4800 was around $400.

Beyond memory data, the leak reveals positioning of the processor itself. AMD states that the performance difference between the new Ryzen 7 9850X3D and Ryzen 7 9800X3D is between 3% to 7%. The official launch of the Ryzen 7 9850X3D is expected as early as next week, but some have already managed to get the processor and even test it.

In recent developments, tech experts highlight the efficiency of the Ryzen 7 9850X3D which capitalizes on AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology, offering enhanced cache capacity that significantly boosts gaming outputs without necessitating high-speed RAM. This makes the new processor not only a cost-effective solution but also a demonstration of AMD’s ongoing innovation in gaming technology. With the heavy competition from Intel’s recent offerings, AMD has positioned the Ryzen 7 9850X3D to attract gamers who seek a balance between performance and budget.
