An intriguing slide from an updated presentation by AMD has surfaced online, dedicated to the upcoming Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor. The document reveals interesting details about the dependency of the processor’s performance on the speed of RAM, as well as a comparison of DDR5 module prices.

The slide compares system performance with DDR5-4800 and the faster DDR5-6000 memory (in a 2×16 GB configuration). According to AMD’s tests, the average frame rate difference (FPS) between these kits across more than 30 games is less than 1%. Examples include Cyberpunk 2077, Far Cry 6, Red Dead Redemption 2, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Performance gains from switching to faster memory varied within the margin of error – from +0.2% to +1.6%. This means that thanks to 3D V-Cache technology, users can save on purchasing expensive RAM kits without losing gaming performance.

AMD supports its claims with price data from PCPartPicker as of January 9th. The company notes a significant price difference: the DDR5-6000 2×16 GB set was priced at approximately $470, while the DDR5-4800 was around $400.
Beyond memory data, the leak reveals positioning of the processor itself. AMD states that the performance difference between the new Ryzen 7 9850X3D and Ryzen 7 9800X3D is between 3% to 7%. The official launch of the Ryzen 7 9850X3D is expected as early as next week, but some have already managed to get the processor and even test it.
