Hyundai and Atlas: Robotics Take Center Stage at CES 2026

At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Hyundai Motor Group unveiled the latest version of its electric humanoid robot Atlas. The model showcased smooth and natural movements, greeted the audience, and performed dance elements, eliciting enthusiastic applause. Previously, the robot had only been shown in video footage, but at the exhibition, it appeared live. A screenshot from the video featured Atlas with 56 degrees of freedom, sensitive sensors on its hands, and panoramic vision. The robot is capable of lifting loads up to 50 kg, operating at temperatures from -20 to +40 °C, and can be washed with water. It can independently move to charging stations, replace batteries, and continue working quickly.

Hyundai plans to mass-produce Atlas for industrial sites, starting with sorting parts in 2028, and from 2030, expand its application to assembly processes. Development is carried out in collaboration with Boston Dynamics, a subsidiary of Hyundai, which the group owns 87.6% stake. Recent advancements, especially those demonstrated at CES 2026, signal Hyundai’s strategic shift towards integrating more AI-driven solutions into industrial operations, enhancing efficiency and precision through technology.
