The Chinese firm Zhaoxin, widely recognized for its notable processors, has unveiled details about its new CPU generation, the KX-8000. These processors are expected to hit the market this year, with the company promoting them as high-performance solutions for PCs. Firstly, the new CPUs will be impressive with a clock speed up to 4 GHz, compared to 3.7 GHz of the current generation. Secondly, they will feature a high-performance integrated graphics core, as promised by the company. Additionally, the new models will support DDR5 and PCIe 5.0.
The number of cores hasn’t been disclosed, but since the KX-7000 already offers eight, the new releases are likely to match or exceed this. Our own tests on the KX-7000 showed that in certain tasks, the eight-core model can compete with the Core i3-12100 or the Ryzen 5 1500X. At times, the Chinese CPU even outpaces its rivals, though it often falls noticeably behind. Nevertheless, it beats other Chinese solutions like the Kirin 9000C and Loongson 3A6000.
In recent years, Chinese CPU manufacturers have made significant strides in improving performance and expanding their market reach. This move is particularly aimed at competing with established giants like Intel and AMD, especially on price-performance ratios. As of 2026, advancements in CPU technology focus on enhancing power efficiency, adopting more compact fabrication processes, and increasing core counts at competitive prices.
